I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 7 and in 2021 I will be a year 8. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.
Kia Ora James,
ReplyDeleteIt's Georgia here from the Kaikohekohe Cluster. I'm so happy to see you've completed the Waitangi activity and that I get a chance to comment back to you! I live in Northland which is where Waitangi is. It's awesome to see the different things you'd like to see if you visited. Most, if not all of the students from my cluster have been lucky enough to visit Waitangi, I even have a student who's Aunty works at Waitangi so she visits regularly.
I agree that Kapa Haka and the Haka are awesome to watch, they are such powerful representations of the maori culture and I always feel a huge sense of pride to be from New Zealand when I watch others perform Kapa Haka or the Haka for our country. Is their a Kapa Haka group at your school? Or in your community?
I hope one day you could visit Waitangi. It's an incredible place rich in history and our country's culture.
Nga mihi
Georgia
