Summer learning journey: Practice

Activity 1: The first settlers

I learnt a lot about this because I dident know how made the distinct culture called maori was
made from the first settlers. I also dident know that they landed over 700 years ago thats  a long time.
Also I did not know about the story of maui and the fish. It seems that maui is strong and somtimees gets bullied by his brother. I really liked this activity because I learnt a lot.

Summer learning journey prize

I am looking forward to the summer learning journey prize. The slj is something to do when your bored.

Cough Sneeze

Today, We done an other slide of personal hygine. The challenging part was doing the characters and thinking of what to say in my own words. The favorite part was making the backgrounds. I learnt That when you sneeze It can go 2 meters or longer. That's really long your germs go thurfer away than you thought so.

Germs (dental care)

Today, we done a slideshow about germs...The challenging part was making the characters for the story. The funniest part was making the background with all of the tiles placed on the ground. I learnt that some times when you stop the tap you get germs back from other people. So we use a one use cloth to tearn the tap off.

A kenning is a poem about an animal I chose a snake, spider and a shark. I done my one (er) at the end.

How to brush your teeth

The subject today is health, I learnt that we had to brush your teeth 2 min and to not rinse just spit. Today we done a slide for 5 year old for help for there dental care. The main characters are Brussels man And caress cavity. We done this to help 5 year old dental care Its a fun slide show and learning about how to brush your teeth.
Like brushing your teeth for 2 minutes and to spit not rinse because it will wash the toothpaste of the teeth. It was really fun making the characters. The most challenging part was to think of the characters to know what color they are and what are they going to do in the story.

Life education

Today is the last of life education. It was really fun about learning the body and what make teamwork. We also watched a video about same things same everything it was a bit creepy. It talked about we are not different but at the end of the video the life ed person talked about how we are different to others and we dont have to be the same we are different in sperate ways.

There was a giraffe called Harold he was really funny he was helpful too. He told funny jokes. He said when we came in that we were the smart class.

A Walk In The Dark Park

Change

Today is the last day of science for this year. I learnt a lot by reactants and product also chemical reactions. It was really fun my favorite was the elephant toothpaste experiment.

Science -change

Today we done another science experiment we mixed vinegar and baking soda together it makes carbon dioxide (gas). The reactants were vinegar and baking soda. Method bottle 1/3 of of vinegar and 2 tea spoons of baking soda and then mix them together and made carbon dioxide.
Result popped and foamy and gas.

Calender Art 2018

This week we have been making calender Art. First we started with the sketching to draw the sun and that when we finished the sketching we were painting I started with the top first and then moved down to the black shadowed hills. The sun looked like a whale but I just ignored that.

What I know about this novel study (Book report)

Over the last six weeks I have been reading this novel called Because of Walter.
 The book was writin by Carol Kruger Illustrated by Mary Dahl Winton.
 We have been learning to ask qustions about the book.
 I have made a few study about the book including what was the aouthors backstory and what she will be in 1 year 5 years ect.
 Its Qwit a strong book and got a lot of feelings it about an a kid whos in foster care and wants to get adopeted but she cant later one in the book she had a sister at the foster care house next to a beach. The girl who wantrs to get adopted is Kaysha. The foster care parents are called the Parkers.

Elephant toothpaste

How to make elephant toothpaste (procedure)

Yeast

Bleach (hydrogen peroxide)

Hot water

Bottle

Detergent (dishwashing liquid)

Instructions

1. Collect the ingredients
2. Put gloves on.
3. Mix hot water and the yeast together
4. Next, combine detergent and bleach into the same bottle
5. See what change happened in this procedure
6. Put your notes down to remember what happened in the procedure
7. Prove your statement to others so they know what to do

Hokey pokey

What is hokey pokey? Hokey Pokey is fairly new. It was made at 1950 it was originated in New Zealand so yes it is a traditional food in New Zealand. Do you know that crunchie bar from cadburys no? Well if you don’t know it is it is Hokey Pokey in the inside and chocolate on the outside so now you know it? Good. It is really hard no seriously IT IS HARD well maybe not that hard. Anyway it is gold because it’s the golden syrup that makes it gold and shiny. It is thin and very crunchy. Did you know that hokey pokey ice cream is only made in New Zealand.

Today we done another science experiment. We added hydrogen peroxide and yeast and the change was the bottel was foaming and there was oxygen in the foam.

What does it mean?

When you don't know where you're going it is good to turn back.
So you don't get lost in the nature and the modern city.
If you’re lost it is better to turn back to someone you know.

This proverb is from Russia I picked this proverb because it was simple and

Tree Art

This week and last week we have been doing tree art. The fun part for me was colouring the tree in because it looked dark and stands out. The challenging part was doing the scratching  if you can see on the tree and the season oh and by the way the blue is winter the red orange is autumn and green is spring and orange and green is summer.

Blurb: We mixed baking powder and vineger and it created a product called carbon dioxide. It was fizzy also pop and went frothy

Sea turtle's

Blurb: This week we are explaining turtles this is the life cylcel of a turtle. The hard part was to get the self check done. The easy part was to do the self check.

Sea turtles have been around for 150 million years that's when the dinosaurs have been around to this day they are still alive. But leatherback turtles are endangered.

The female lay’s 50 - 200 eggs 800 hatch 50 % make it to land (sand) 50 % won’t make it to sea. 20 % make to sea.

The baby turtles feel very vulnerable to small fish up to sharks so basically everything will try to eat them. If they do feel vulnerable the baby will hide under sea weed so they can hide from sea birds.

When the turtle is growing up the turtle was the size of a dinner plate and now the turtle are nearly the size of a dinner table ( leatherback turtle).  The turtle doesn't have that much predators to worry about just sharks and the odd killer whale.

When the nearly full grow adult make’s adult stage they have survived the odds of shark, fish, killer whale and a hole lot of marine animals. After two long decades the female can breed. Approximately the female lay’s 100 eggs a year.

This is the life cycle and explain about turtles 10% survive to a full grow adult so its really tough to be a sea turtle you get 20% don’t hatch 50% make water and 2% make a full grow adult and has survived the odds in conclusion it’s hard to be a sea turtle overcoming these challenges.

it forms it has different substances. Sometimes they explode be careful
using gunpowder and fire cause it blows up in flames and it could burn you.

So you mix reactants to form  products.

How does it work?

How does scissors work? First we grab the scissors by its sharp blades but on the side of the blade. Then we want to put your thumb and your index finger in the handle. When your comfortable with the position of your fingers then your wanting to push down on the handle and then it will snip whatever you want. paper is very easy to cut. Then you could type on you tube cutting tutorial then you could cut shapes out or your name and other cool stuff.

Today we had to write about how does scissors work. I know people probably know how to work scissors but little kids probably don't know how to use them but who knows maybe a grown man doesn't know how to work scissors! So here is how to work scissors.

What I Know About Novels

A novel can be a fairy tale and can be fiction and can be a type of story.

What Do I Know About Characters. Characters have a description like look, ( Maybe powers), and it s part of the story and main person sometimes have a talent.

What Do I Know About Questioning. The reader question's the book sometimes. good readers find the answer. So thats all I know about novels 

What I learned about day of the dead

Day of the dead is different to Halloween. Day of the dead has... alters. Alters are when there loved ones have pasted and the have pictures of them of what they look like. If you don't have a picture of them there spirit wont come back so they no longer with you. Halloween is a day to scare and fear. Halloween came from Ireland. Day of the dead is happens and rember your family and friends who have past away. Halloween is a evil spirit they say. The simmalaretes are skulls, food (candy), They are both as celebration and they both have decorations. The challenging part was finding real facts. And the easy part was

The Big Kindom

One windy dark day a cowboy stepped into another dimension with a huge abandoned castle

towering the clouds. A black feathered raven scouting around the huge abandoned castle. The

man stepped inside the creaky mysteries castle. With droplets of water coming down. Then

suddenly a storm risen above! It got winder and his cape fluttering in the cold wind, shadows

everywhere making it pitch black. But then the raven flew down like a bomb and landed gently

in the cowboys hands it felt fluffy but nothing put a smile on his face. Then the storm went

away everything was bright again except for the...abboned castle. Then red flowers covered

the field in a blink of an eye but then the raven disappeared...
