This post is about the Tangata Whenua questions.
1. Where did the Moari people arrive from? They arrived from Polynesia in wakas
2. How did they arrive in NZ? In man made waka's (boats)
3. What did they bring to NZ? They brang kumara (kumara is like a sweet potato), Crops and lots of other natural food such as veges like carrots, potato, pumpkins and lots of other veges.
4. How did they get food? In the bush there were loads of flightless birds (moas) that had no fighting expirenece, so they were easy crops, and also lots of kai in the ground (veges)
5. Write 3 sentences about the Moriori people. They origanated from the polynesian people, There last long voyage was to the Chatham islands, the Polynesian people brung their crops to NZ
6. How did they prove the Moari and Moriori descended from the same people? Dna, language and skeletons of the Moriori people
7.Explain how the Moa became extinct. The Moari's killed all the moas for food and killed the last ones hiding with fire, which is quite sad.
8. Why did Maori choose to settle in places they did? Because the wind was too strong to travel in wakas because the wind will push it back.
9. In your word bank, write a meaning of whanau, hapu and iwi. Iwi is from the same waka.
10. Explain the roleof the rangatira - list at lest 5 roles.

ReplyDeleteWell done on answering all these questions about Tangata Whenua. You must be great at note-taking! For most of the questions, you ave given lots of valid reasons and explained why this history occurred.
I'm guessing that you ran out of time to complete questions 9 and 10, so it would be good for you to go back and finish these. Also, Rangatira were not slaves.
Keep working hard.
